How multiple loan applications are damaging your CIBIL — and what to do

By Dhansethu Team · May 2025

Every time you apply for a home loan, the bank pulls your CIBIL report. This is called a hard enquiry. Each hard enquiry drops your score by 5–8 points. Apply to five banks and you've lost 25–40 points.

Most borrowers don't know this. They get rejected by HDFC, apply to SBI, get rejected again, then apply to three more banks — each time making their situation worse.

The right approach: identify the right lender for your profile before applying. Dhansethu does this assessment for free with a soft check that does not affect your CIBIL. We then submit to one lender — the right one.

If you've already applied to multiple banks, use our CIBIL damage estimator to understand how much damage has been done. Then stop applying and let us find the right lender for your current score.
